Campfire

These pictures are from our campfire last week ... I wanted to get these up here before I start going through the pictures I took of Robbie's birthday - around 250. :) So I'll try and get those up in the next few days!

From the Garden

We've been eating things from our garden!!!!!

Now, that really is a noteworthy thing. For the four years that we have had a garden at this house, we have succeeded in growing weeds, and zucchini ... and that's about it. You just can't kill a zucchini plant.

In June we were agreeably surprised to discover we could also grow radishes. No one really liked 'em that well, so we ended up giving most of 'em to Grandpa, but still! It was a successful expiriment.

In the last few weeks, I've been surprised how many home-grown veggies we've been eating. We've had a couple meals of sweet corn, some broccoli, lettuce, and several green peppers. And lots and lots of tomatoes!

Turns out if you weed things occasionally, they actually grow better. Who knew?

This picture of tomatoes makes me happy ... it just looks so fresh and yummy.

This is what the zucchini gets turned into! Emily's quite the bread baker.

Here she's eating a piece while she makes mac-and-cheese for dinner. :P

It doesn't stick around very long!

Kunkel Bunch Goes to the Lake

Warning: there are a TON of pictures in this post. :)

Last week we spent the evening with some friends, and after dinner, we headed to the lake out back of their place. They keep it well-stocked, so it makes a fun place to fish. This picture of Benny and Dad is one of my new favorites:
Lydia getting tickled. :)
Matt showing Lydia a cricket.
Joey
Matt fell in ... somehow. :P
This is such a 'Joey' expression. :)
Matthew kissing his fish ... it's kind of a family tradition?
LOL ... Joey trying to race the quad.
Lydia throwing a fish back.

Robbie taking Lydia for a quad ride.

Emily convinced me I should at least catch one fish. :)
Emily caught quite a few ... she takes 'em off the hook herself - she even knows how to use the pliers, and has opinions on which color worm works the best. :)
Ben ... relaxing. :)
Dad dangled this fish in front of my camera ... and I think the picture's silly. :)

Daniel had a method of putting them back in the water "so that they would splash!"
Lydia ... upset about something!

Lydia Faith

Or, as she says it, "Lilya Fafe". Same difference. :P No matter how you say it, she's one cute li'l girl.

We were riding to WalMart last night, and Lydia just started talking:

"I used to be a little baby, and I tied (cried), and tied, and tied, and tied, and tied, and tied, and tied, and Mommy used to yuv (love) me, and yuv me, and yuv me, and I would go to seep (sleep) every time," she finished in a very matter-of-fact tone. I'm not kidding, she said 'cried' seven times. :)

"Does Mommy still love you?" Mom asked her, pretending to be offended.

"Yes," Lydia replied.

"Oh good," Mom said, with an exaggerated relieved tone. :)

"Whoa! That's not how mommy doos it!"

"Joey, are you my husband?"

"Yeah, I promise! Serious!"
