You could tell by his face that Ben had this defeated look. He told Megan, "I don't know how to spell nuthing."
Megan, being encouraging said, "I think you can spell your name! How do you spell Ben?"
Ben smiled and visably perked up, "B...E....N!"
Megan, "Good job! See you can spell something!"
Then Ben responded, "Yeah, but I still can't spell nothing!"
